1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Bertone

Chassis number: 915516

Engine no: 923616

Between 1939 and 1942 the Sport chassis of type 256 (2500cc, 6 cylinders) are usually shipped to the Scuderia Ferrari, which makes them run after having shortened the wheelbase from 300 to 270 cm and mounted a increased fuel tank. Since 1942 (starting from chassis 915501), the structure is reinforced with a cross bar and the car is called 2500 SS (Super Sport).

This car takes the number 915516 and, according to Alfa Romeo, is a Super Sport. Although that, it does not have the cross bar and this could mean that it was built on an older chassis, renewed in the 40s' to cope with the shortage of materials due to the war.

Carrozzeria Bertone prepares the car as a new road version, with an outstanding style, work of the greatest stylist of those times: Mario Revelli de Beaumont. Innovative details like the central locking or the retractable handles blend with a very elegant design, which does not hide the speed skills of the car.

The car was purchased in '42 by Oreste Peverelli, a car dealer from Como, Italy, and then sold in Switzerland, in '46 and then in USA. The car come back to Italy and is restored at the highest level, preserving the most of all the original components present.
