1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500S Berlinetta Touring

Chassis number: 915045

Engine no: 923846

For the debut of the new Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, Alfa Romeo assigned to Carrozzeria Touring the production of a "berlinetta" on the short Sport chassis. The Berlinetta Superleggera debuts at the Berlin Motor Show in February 1939 (together with the convertible version, always by Touring), and replaces the previous 6C 2300B MM, with a much more modern design that integrates the headlights in the shape of the fenders.

The final version of this model sees the light at the end of 1939, and is marketed as an official model from Alfa, which entrusts part of the production even at Carrozzeria Castagna.

Chassis 915045 is sold in December 1939 to Prince Camillo Caetani in Rome, the son of the musician Roffredo. The following year, Prince Caetani falls on the Albanian front, and after the war the car changes owner four more times while remaining in Rome. Only in the ’80s it is sold outside the capital, to a Milanese collector, before entering the Lopresto collection.

The car has been displayed, along with other cars from the collection, in Florence in the prestigious setting of Piazza della Signoria on the occasion of "Florence Hometown of Fashion" in 2014, and at the Monza circuit in the exhibition "Eleganza Dinamica – Talento Italiano".
