1913 Scat 25-35 HP Landaulet-Limousine

Chassis number: 1550

Engine no: 1550

The company SCAT (Società Ceirano Automobili Torino) was founded by Giovanni Battista Ceirano in 1906. In 1911, 1912 and 1914 SCAT was able to win the Targa Florio with the 22-32 HP and 25-35 HP models. The 25-35 HP was powered by a 4712cc 4-cylinder mono-block.

This SCAT 25-35 HP, chassis 1550, was ordered in 1913 with a Landaulet-Limousine coachwork, by Francesco De Leonardis, a nobleman from Southern Italy. Before shipping the car to the client, SCAT presented it at the Turin Motor Show, as confirmed by a letter from April 1913. A photo of the SCAT stand with this very car can be found in the magazine "Motori Cicli e Sports" from May 1913.

The car remained property of the De Leonardis family for more than a century, and in the last years was also exhibited in a museum. This allowed it to survive unmolested and completely original till modern days. In 2017 chassis 1550 was purchased by Corrado Lopresto, who submits it to a preservative restoration, cleaning all the parts without replacing or rebuilding any detail.

After this delicate work, the car was unveiled at the 2018 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, winning the preservation class.
